Belgian development cooperation agency BTC is the Belgian agency for development cooperation. On behalf of the Belgian government, BTC supports developing countries in their fight against poverty. Apart from this public service, BTC also executes contracts on behalf of other national and international organisations that work toward sustainable human development. Belgian Technical Cooperation also manages the scholarships and the traineeships granted by the Directorate-general for Development Cooperation , the General Information Cycle of Belgian development cooperation and two sensitisation campaigns aimed at young people: Kleur Bekennen and Annoncer la Couleur. Belgian Technical Cooperation also implements the Trade for Development Centre programme for the promotion of fair trade in Belgium, and since 2006 the programme of the Voluntary Service for Development Cooperation (VSDC). In 2001 the Flemish government took the responsibility to stimulate MVO Vlaanderen. The centre of knowledge of MVO Vlaanderen wants to stimulate CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) in a working environment. 6 promoters (De Punt, Unizo, EROV, POM West-Vlaanderen, Randstad Belgium and VOKA Oost-Vlaanderen) recruit SMB to implement CSR in a durable manner. Of this SMB they take a CSR-scan to help them put their CSR-actions in practice. Kauri is the Belgian multi-actor learning network and knowledge centre on Business Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility & Corporate Governance, Corporate Citizenship and NGO Accountability. Kauri is founded in 1997 as the first organisation in Belgium that asked attention for the North-South divide in the scope of sustainable business. Kauri sees civil society organisations as important corporate stakeholders. They promote proactive stakeholders engagement between companies and NGOs.
